The Cup( Short Story)
My alarm goes off at 08:45 am. I ignore it. I have been waking up at 12:00pm a lot lately so I set an alarm for an earlier time but it hasn’t worked so far.
10 mins later, I force myself to go downstairs and make myself some cereal to eat hoping that maybe it might give me some energy.
My parents and siblings were all awake already but they didn’t notice when I walked into the kitchen. They were all playing some kind of game in the living room. Their games normally last 2 hours sometimes 3 so I have got the whole kitchen to myself during that time.
When I made myself a bowl of cereal it looked very sloppy and messy. Someone who looked at it might have thought that I made this when I was half asleep and half awake.
I grab my favourite cup out of the cupboard and pour some juice into it and then I sit down and eat.
When I picked my cup up for the first time to drink it. It said one word in blood. Jane. My name.
I rub the blood off with tissue thinking that someone is just messing with me.
2 hours later, I was lying down on my bed texting my friend but then I turned and looked to my left. The same cup that I used earlier was there. My name had been rewritten in fresh blood.
I ignore it again thinking that someone is messing with me.
“Jane?”
I look up and see my sister standing at my bedroom door. “Yeah?”
“Have you seen my phone?”
“No.”
“Can I check your laundry basket? That was where it was last time.”
I nod and go back to looking at my phone.
My sister suddenly screamed and I was by her side in an instant. “What?”
She pointed a finger that was shaking to the middle of the laundry basket.
There right in the middle was the same cup that I saw twice today. Instead of my name it said My sister’s name. Anna.
A black spider crawled out of the cup and jumped on Anna’s face. I tried to pull it off but then it suddenly ate her face in seconds before I could do anything.
My sister dropped to the floor, her whole face eaten off.
The spider jumped onto my face before I could react or do anything to stop it.
