The Diary(Short Story)

At 2pm on Monday morning a diary entry from 10 years into the future appeared.

I was reading a book and it was a normal day. I suddenly saw my diary on the floor when I picked it up, it had the year 2040 as one of the diary entries but it’s only 2030 so how?

I showed it to my parents but they couldn’t see it. They said it said 2030 even my siblings said so as well.

Did it really say 2040? Or am I the one going crazy?

“Hey Aliyah?” My brother Mohammad says.

“Hmm?” I replied.

“Did you really see the 2040 date?”

I nod. Mohammad never talks to me. Why talk to me now?

“I believe you.”

“You do?” The brother who never talks to me believes me?

“The same thing happened to my friend. He ended up dying. Destroy the Diary before it kills you too.”

“It might have happened to your friend but that doesn’t mean it will happen to me.”

“It’s been happening to people all over town. Please destroy it.”

ALL OVER TOWN?! How is that possible?

He left without another word. I picked up the diary and I was about to read the futuristic entry when a sentence formed on the following page.

“If you listen to your brother and destroy the book you won’t die but you won’t be able to find out what happened to your kidnapped sister. If you don’t destroy the book I will tell you everything but you might die.”

C.S.

Which one is better: finding out about what really happened to my sister with a risk of dying or destroying it and not dying but never finding out what happened to my sister?
