The Number(short story)

My sister is dead. I was trying to read a book to distract myself from thinking about her. No luck so far.

My phone was beside the book I was reading and 1 single text message appeared on the lock screen. It was from my Sister. How can she be….? Another message appeared from her.

I pick up my phone and read the 2 messages.

“Hi.”

“I know where you live.”

What? I go to the contact information and I was about to click block the number when another message appeared saying:

“There is no point blocking me. I will still be able to text you.”

“Who are you?” I replied.

“Your sister of course.”

I blocked the number anyway. I don’t care what she says. This person isn’t my sister. My sister, Sophie, would never send a random message like that. Besides, how did she know that I was going to….?

“I can read your mind.” Says another text message that appeared.

Is something wrong with my phone?

“There is nothing wrong with your phone.”

I searched through the contact information looking for the report button, or anything that would stop whoever this is from messaging me when:

“If you dare report me I will find you. I know where you live. I’m your sister. I’m Sophie's twin.”

Sophie never had a twin.

“She did. You were never told. Sophie was.”
