The Toothbrush(Short Story)
I woke up at 7:00am on a Monday morning before school. It was the last day of school before the summer holidays and it was a non-uniform day so we could wear whatever we wanted.
I always wear very basic clothes on non-uniform days. Today, I just put on a simple black abaya and a blue hijab.
As I was fixing my hijab in the mirror, I noticed that my toothbrush was on my desk. I don’t remember placing it there. Did I?
I grabbed my toothbrush and walk back to the bathroom to put it back. I ignored the fact that it randomly appeared. I probably put it there by accident but then forgot.
When I came home from school, my toothbrush was in the exact same position it had been that morning.
This time it had blood on its bristles. The blood looked fresh.
For a few moments I just stood there but then I slowly started to back away.
When I was out of my room I shut the door behind me. Since when does a toothbrush have blood on it?
When I turned around, the toothbrush was there. How did…?
I tried to run down the stairs but the toothbrush got there first. It moved so fast that I didn’t even see how it was walking on the floor.
It then started to form words on the wall opposite the staircase. “You're dead.” The words read. It was moving too fast for me to see how it even formed the words.
When I tried to scream, no sound came out. I tried to reach for my phone in my pocket but my hands wouldn’t move.
I stood there as something cold and hard came into contact with my head and I dropped to the floor.
The last thing I saw was the toothbrush rubbing blood all over me. Again it was moving too fast for me to see how it did it.
